Kenya Natural and Ethiopia Washed

This month we're pairing a Natural processed coffee from Nyeri, Kenya with a Washed processed coffee from Sidama, Ethiopia. Natural processed (sun-dried) coffees in Kenya are difficult to produce given both the larger size of ripe cherries and the high humidity climate. Both coffees are made from 'typical' varieties from their respective growing regions.

For subscribers that missed our October box, you will notice our new RS-Subscriber-only bags. This is a project we started at the end of 2020. This lot of bags is our first experiment at pushing the limitations on packaging substrate (this bag is mono-material and 100% recyclable). These bags will be used until the end of this year, and we will transition back to our standard bags while we process the feedback from all our subscribers.


Kenya Rui-Ruiru

Natural

This coffee arrived along with several lots we obtained from coffee importer Tri-Up (based in Taiwan). They have been at the forefront of process experiments at the farm-level (the Tomodachi release that sold out in 3 days was from Tri-Up). This coffee is their "Tri-Up" Sun Process.

Damo Shanta Golba

Washed

From the awesome coffee sourcerers Catalyst Trade (that brought us Basha, Demeka, Shantawene and Wush Wush), this washed heirloom is from the relatively new Shanta Golba Washing station in Damo.
