An introduction to dialing in espresso and milk steaming! This hands-on workshop is designed for those who are interested in learning espresso extraction and basic milk beverages.
The workshop will be led by our professional barista, Mona, a licensed Q Grader. This workshop will focus on understanding espresso extraction, puck preparation, and milk steaming through guided tasting and hands-on practice. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice using a professional espresso setup. All materials and coffee will be provided during the workshop.
Topics covered will include:
Introduction to espresso machines & grinders
Dialing in espresso with variables: grind size, dose, yield, and time
Extraction theory
Puck preparation & techniques
Sensory evaluation
Milk steaming fundamentals
Basic espresso machine cleaning & maintenance
Hands-on espresso and basic milk steaming practice
Workshops will be held at our roastery in Markham.
Sessions will primarily be led in English but language accommodations for Cantonese and Mandarin can be available. Please email orders@hatchcrafted.com for details.
