Hacienda La Esmeralda is arguably the originating force for geishas rise to prominence in the 2000’s. During the 2004 Best of Panama competition, the Peterson family had done something different and submitted lots based on separate areas of their farm. One particular lot was 100% geisha where it amazed everyone with its incredible intense fruit-foward and floral qualities. It went on to win the 2004 Best of Panama competition and set the world record price at the time for a coffee at an auction. Today they continue to produce incredible coffee and we are excited to sharing them with you.
From Hacienda La Esmeralda:
“The code FB stands for cool fermented washed with raised bed drying. Buenos Aires 6 FB (A) was harvested on March 21st, 2024 from the Buenos Aires lot in Hacienda La Esmeralda’s Jaramillo farm. After pulping, the cool fermentation (F) was done in stainless steel tanks, dry fermented aerobically for 48 hours. This microlot was slow dried for 24 days in raised beds.”
