Las Brumas Panama Coffee Farm, located in the Santa Clara region of Renacimiento, represents a distinguished legacy of coffee production under the stewardship of César Isaac Araúz Vega. Situated near the Costa Rican border and the La Amistad International Park, the farm operates at an elevation ranging from 1,360 to 1,490 meters above sea level. This high-altitude terroir, combined with a specific microclimate, provides optimal conditions for cultivating specialty coffee varieties, including Geisha, Caturra, and Catuai.
Since 2007, the farm has prioritized environmental sustainability, notably eliminating the use of herbicides to preserve soil integrity and protect local water sources. The agricultural approach integrates shade-grown techniques using avocado and grevillea trees, fostering a biodiverse ecosystem. The harvesting process is strictly manual, relying on indigenous Ngöbe-Buglé workers to hand-select only fully ripe cherries to maximize quality.
Processing is conducted entirely on-site to ensure complete traceability. The cherries undergo pulping, fermentation, and washing before being sun-dried on patios and rested in wooden cellars. As a certified Q Grader, Mr. Araúz implements rigorous quality control, resulting in a cup profile noted for its cleanliness, citrus acidity, and chocolate nuances. Las Brumas has established a strong international presence, exporting to markets in the United States, Taiwan, and South Korea. Notably, the farm gained recognition in the specialty coffee sector during the 2015 auction with its "Explosión" lot, underscoring its commitment to producing high-caliber Panamanian coffee.
This batch underwent a 7 day anaerobic fermentation.
